The President of Ukraine has submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that will enable the introduction of an electronic system of interaction between participants in criminal proceedings.
These amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine will equalize the legal status of the paper and electronic documents in criminal proceedings, which will allow participants in the process to facilitate interaction with each other and get rid of a significant amount of paper in favour of easier-to-use and more mobile electronic media and devices.
The progressive changes, in turn, will allow for faster and easier interaction between the court, the prosecution and the defence, with a corresponding increase in the efficiency of their work. In particular, there will be opportunities to submit procedural documents and review case files of criminal proceedings in electronic form.
